FIFTY THINGS TO DO BEFORE I REST

A light-hearted and hopefully inspiring look at a wish-list of things I’d like to do….. P1150885a before I rest. (‘You mean a bucket list,’ said one well-wisher.) Health, wits, and finances permitting, of course. I haven’t actually counted the things on my wish-list (fifty had a rather nice sound to it), but every time I give this talk, I remind myself to get on with things, and not procrastinate.

MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS

A fun and relaxing hour of prize-winning short stories, some from my published collections. Let me inspire you to think about your own unique experiences, and how you can pass on your memories to your children and grandchildren.

A SLICE OF LIFE WITH SHORT STORY READINGS

FROM THE SCHOOL DENTIST TO MY FATHER’S ALLOTMENT.

Writers are sometimes asked where their ideas come from. Veronica Bright tells some tales from her life, and shows how she mixes past experiences with imagination to create short stories. The session includes a selection of her prize-winning work.

A TEACHER REMEMBERS, WITH SHORT STORY READINGS

Teaching primary school children is exhilarating, great fun, and hard work.

Veronica Bright brings you some of the highlights from her life as a primary school teacher.

She’ll also read some stories inspired by the children who were in her care.

FLASH FICTION

50 words or 1000? Easy or difficult? Find out what makes a very short story work well, and where successful writers get their best ideas. We’ll look at competitions with flash fiction categories, too. My aim is for this talk to inspire you to create your own pocket-sized stories that stand out from the crowd.
